Simple process

How rent-to-own works

Four steps from picking your container to owning it. Cactus Containers handles the container and the delivery; our rent-to-own partner, Rental Partners, handles the application and the agreement.

STEP 01

Choose your container

Pick the size and condition that fits your job — 20ft, 40ft, high cube, double-door or open-side.

STEP 02

Apply online

The application is handled by Rental Partners, the rent-to-own provider we work with. It is quick and entirely online.

STEP 03

Get approved & delivered

Once your application is approved and your agreement is in place, we schedule delivery from the yard nearest you.

STEP 04

Own it at the end

Complete the term of your agreement and the container is yours to keep.

Rent-to-own is not a loan

Cactus Containers is not a lender. Rent-to-own is the only pay-over-time option we offer: a rental agreement that ends with the container belonging to you, arranged through Rental Partners.

Why rent-to-own

Get the container working for you sooner

Rent-to-own is how a lot of our ranch, jobsite and small-business customers get a container on the ground without writing one big check.

No large upfront cost

You don't have to cover the full purchase price to get started. That keeps your cash available for the work the container is there to support.

Use it while you pay for it

The container is delivered to your site and in service from day one.

Own it outright at the end

Unlike a straight monthly rental, rent-to-own ends with the container belonging to you.

Same containers, same steel

Rent-to-own units come out of the same condition-graded inventory we sell for cash.

Same delivery as a cash sale

Delivered on a tilt-bed truck from the yard nearest you and placed where you want it.

A Texas team on the phone

Rental Partners handles the paperwork; we handle the container.

What qualifies

Almost everything we sell can be rent-to-own

There is one rule, and it is an easy one to check. Any container can go rent-to-own — including units with basic modifications on them. A container with plumbing or electrical in it cannot. Storage containers, one-trip units, open-sides, double-doors, custom lengths: all of it qualifies.

Qualifies for rent-to-own
  • Used and one-trip 20 ft and 40 ft containers, standard and high cube
  • New 8, 9, 12, 13 and 14 ft containers
  • Double-door and open-side units
  • Texas flag, 53 ft and cut-to-length builds
  • Modified builds with no plumbing and no electrical — extra doors, roll-ups, vents, insulation, paint, shelving and racking are all fine
Buy these outright instead
  • Office conversions — all four builds. Every office we build has electrical in it, so none of them can be rent-to-own.
  • The basic tack room exactly as we spec it. That build includes a 12" solar fan, which puts it on the wrong side of the rule.
  • Any build we put plumbing or electrical into — wired lighting, outlets, HVAC, a sink or a restroom.

Not sure which side your build lands on? Tell us what you want on the container and we will tell you straight before you apply — call the nearest yard.

Available rent-to-own

Which containers can I rent to own?

The same units we sell outright, as long as there is no plumbing or electrical in the build. Here are four of the most popular, with the cash purchase price from our Decatur yard so you have a reference point.

Good to know

Rent-to-own questions, answered straight

Can I rent to own a shipping container in Texas?
Yes. Cactus Containers offers rent-to-own on shipping containers from all three of its Texas yards — Midland, Amarillo and Decatur. The application is handled online by Rental Partners, the rent-to-own provider Cactus Containers works with.
How does container rent-to-own work?
You pick the container you want from the Midland, Amarillo or Decatur yard, complete the online application through Rental Partners, and once you are approved and your agreement is in place the container is delivered to your site. You use the container the whole time you are paying for it, and at the end of your term it is yours to keep.
Do you offer rent to own storage containers in Midland, Texas?
Yes. The Cactus Containers Midland yard is on E County Rd 73, Midland, TX 79705 — call (432) 423-2507. Rent-to-own is available on containers from that yard, and delivery covers Midland, Odessa, Big Spring, Andrews, Stanton and the wider Permian Basin.
Is a rent-to-own container the same as taking out a loan?
No. Rent-to-own is not a loan and Cactus Containers is not a lender. It is a rental agreement that ends with the container belonging to you, arranged through a third-party provider, Rental Partners.
How much does a rent-to-own shipping container cost?
The payment amount and term for a rent-to-own container are set during the application with Rental Partners and depend on the container you choose and the agreement you are offered.
Which containers are available rent-to-own?
Almost all of them. Any container can go rent-to-own, including units with basic modifications on them — used and one-trip 20-ft and 40-ft units, high cubes, new 8-ft through 14-ft containers, double-door and open-side containers, Texas flag, 53-ft and cut-to-length builds. The one exception is a container with plumbing or electrical in it.
Can I rent-to-own an office container?
No. Every office conversion Cactus Containers builds has electrical in it, and the rent-to-own program does not cover containers with plumbing or electrical. Offices are a buy-outright product.
Can I rent-to-own a tack room?
It depends on one item. The basic tack room as we spec it includes a 12" solar fan, so that exact build is buy-outright. Build the same tack room without the fan and it qualifies for rent-to-own.
How do I apply for rent-to-own?
Start the application online with Rental Partners. It is quick and entirely online. If you would rather talk it through first, call the Decatur, Amarillo or Midland yard.
Do you deliver rent-to-own containers to my site?
Yes. A rent-to-own container is delivered the same way as a container bought outright — on a tilt-bed truck from the nearest Cactus Containers yard.
